LavaBarre is a one-stop shop for group fitness training in a boutique, welcoming environment. Our close to 4,000 square ft studio space boasts 3 gorgeous studios for barre, cycling, yoga and TRX classes as well as a men's and women's locker room with showers and spa grade amenities from Red Flower and Beautycounter. We are the only fitness studio in the DC area to offer hybrid classes of this kind combining TRX with Barre, Cycle with TRX, Barre with Cycle to name a few and back to back classes scheduled so that so that you can incorporate yoga into your workout after a solid sweat session.

We have both men’s and women’s fully equipped luxury locker rooms complete with towel service and spa products from Red Flower and Beautycounter. Keyless security-lock lockers are available in the women’s locker room and outside of the men’s locker room.
From time to time, we offer a beginner’s workshop to be sure that everyone feels confident in their basics, however we do not offer a beginner class. Jump right in, our trainers are extremely hands-on and will make certain that you are doing the moves correctly.
When you purchase an individual class, class package or membership at LavaBarre, it may be used to attend barre, cycle, TRX or yoga. We do not offer single discipline packages. There are no restrictions on memberships, so you may take a barre class in the morning and a cycle to yoga class in the evening if you would like!
For classes before 11:00am, you must cancel yourself out of class 12 hours prior to start of class For all other classes, you must cancel yourself 6 or more hours before the scheduled start time (example: 1:00pm or earlier for a class scheduled to begin at 6:00pm) in order to avoid penalty.
If you are using a class package, you will lose a class from your package. Clients using a Monthly Unlimited Membership will be charged a $20 Late Cancellation/No Show Fee. So, please remember to remove yourself from the schedule if you won’t be attending and give us a call if you need help or don’t have internet (703) 522-2000
Check your email! You will get an email 12 hours before all classes that start before 11:00am. For all other classes, you will get an email up to 6 hours before the class. Within the 6-hour window, we will try to contact you via email or phone and add you to the class, but if you don’t make it, you won’t lose the class.
If you are on the wait list and can't make it, please remove yourself from the list. Once you get in off of the waitlist, we will charge you for your spot.
Yes! We will care for your children ages 6 and under in our beautiful playroom. You may purchase individual or packages of childcare “playdates”. Please make a reservation in advance under your name (not your child’s name). We ask that you arrive 15 minutes in advance of your first “playdate” to fill out health forms and contact information.

Both Lauren and Vanessa, LavaBarre’s owners did LavaBarre during their pregnancies and consider LavaBarre to be one of the safest workouts for pregnancy. We offer modifications throughout the workouts and suggest Vbarre, Vyoga, VTRX and Vcycle classes for pregnant women. *Be sure to get permission from your doctor before beginning any new exercise regimen.
We offer beautiful gift certificates for sale in any denomination. These may be purchased online or at the desk.
We understand it can seem discouraging to see numbers on the scale go up instead of down since you’ve been working out with us! Don’t fret, you’re gaining muscle and will burn fat. Keep up the great work and start measuring your waistline instead of stepping on the scale.
At least a half hour before a LavaBarre workout (or any workout) we recommended that you eat a 100-200 calorie snack and drink plenty of water. A banana works well, or a handful of almonds. After class, you'll want to load up on PROTEIN! As much protein as you can :) Protein shakes or bars work well if you're on the go.
Our class packages are non-transferable, but you can purchase classes for your friends as gifts within the Mindbody system. We also have gorgeous gift cards for sale at the front desk and online when you're looking for a special present!
We do! We allow immediate family members to book packages and memberships at a 25% discount. Must be of equal or lesser value to the current member's package or membership.

On average, clients burn 350-450 calories in a LavaBarre class. Your bodyweight and level of workout intensity affect the amount of calories burned so the best way to gauge your exact number is to wear a hear rate monitor during class.
LavaCycle is a full body workout on a stationary bike set to club beats that incorporates core work, dance moves, weights and more for a “party on a bike” that will keep you coming back for a sweat release like no other!
LavaCycle is an innovative twist on the indoor ride that focuses on cardiovascular endurance, strength and core. Students do choreographed, high-resistance sprints and climbs to club-like music with arm work and interval training. The lighting is dark and the space allows you to let go of your day for a fabulously sweaty release!
We do not rent shoes at LavaBarre. But both your Look Delta cleats or SPD cleats will clip into our bikes. If you don’t have cleats, wear sneakers!

The bike seat may take a bit of getting used to at first. In the beginning, feel free to ask at the desk for a cushioned gel seat for you bike, or wear padded bike shorts to class.
On average, riders burn approximately 700 calories in our 55 minute LavaCycle class. Since calories burned depends upon your weight and exertion in class, we recommend wearing a heart rate monitor if you would like a more accurate reading.

Vyoga is a great way to improve flexibility and endurance for those who regularly run, cycle of lift. Wherever you fall on the flexibility spectrum, LavaBarre makes it easy to access the workout that can bring balance and harmony to your body.
No! We offer Manduka brand mats free of charge as well as towels, blocks and straps.
We are a sock studio! Please wear your socks to and from your mat. Comfortable, stretchy clothing is best for LavaYoga.
TRX stands for Total Body Resistance Exercise. Created by the Navy SEALs, to develop overall strength, balance, flexibility and core strength by using gravity and body weight to perform the exercises. Core conditioning is at the heart of our method! Get ready for some high intensity training using the TRX.
TRX is a total-body workout that burns calories while increasing muscular endurance. You will build a strong core, improve balance and overall strength. It's fun, fast and effective!
We aren’t going to lie – this class is tough! But this class is also FUN, and REWARDING! You see results FAST. You are using your own bodyweight and can control your resistance so as you improve and gain strength you will be able to adjust your incline, up your reps and your challenge. Like all of our classes, you are working with the best trainers – its like personal training in a group setting!
Sneakers please! If you have them, a flat-bottomed cross-training sneaker is better than a running shoe to give you more stability.
